Types of Catalytic Converter
Not all catalytic converters are created equal, with varying ratios of Pt-Pd-Rh in each the prices can vary from zero value to over £300 per converter. Below is the types of converter that we purchase and a brief overview of each.
CERAMICS
The most common type of catalytic converter and can be found on most vehicles. This converter consists of a monolith block within a metal shell.
METALLIC
Less common than a ceramic, metallic catalytic converters can often be found on high performance vehicles and are generally not worth as much as ceramics, in part due to processing costs.
DPF (DIESEL PARTICLE FILTER)
Found on trucks, lorries and anything else with a high diesel engine capacity. These are often large catalytic converters that require analysis for precious metal content prior to payment.
DUST
Due to there not being any identifier when purchasing dust, payment is made following a lab analysis as to the precious metal content. Dust should be provided in a suitable container for transportation.
Current Market Prices
With the precious metal market changing so quickly, we base our prices on the cost of each metal at the beginning of the week. Current market prices can be found below:
